Andrea Pirlo

“I usually go and pressure whoever holds onto the ball but it was a really tough job against Pirlo. He never stopped swerving this way and that and as well as incredible technique he played with such intelligence. Very difficult to mark.”

Clarence Seedorf

“He was a complete footballer. I faced him when I was at Cagliari. He was devastating – technically gifted, physically strong, quick… It was very difficult to play against him.”

Perparim Hetemaj

“Away from the pitch he’s really friendly, but when he plays he always gets in your face and is a really frustrating player to face.”

Dejan Stankovic

“He was very physical and never stopped running – he really was a tank. He fought hard, made sure you knew he was there and was a really tough opponent.”
