Roma 3-0 Barcelona: Match report, reaction and key statistics

The Giallorossi, trailing 4-1 after the first leg at the Camp Nou, broke the deadlock early on through Edin Dzeko - setting up an enthralling contest at the Stadio Olimpico that saw Eusebio Di Francesco's side harry, harass and dominate their vaunted opponents.

A penalty from captain Daniele De Rossi on the hour-mark put the Giallorossi within a goal of the last-four and, in a thrilling finish, Kostas Manolas nodded home from a corner to send the Italian capital wild.

Team selection

Di Francesco went with a bold, attacking line-up for the all-important second leg, with Patrik Schick joining Edin Dzeko in attack.

The coach named Kostas Manolas, Juan Jesus and Federico Fazio in defence - starting in a traditional 4-3-3 that quickly morphed into a 3-4-3 formation, with Radja Nainggolan playing a more advanced attacking role.

13' - Schick rises highest to meet Kolarov's inswigning corner, but his glancing header is not quite on target.

16' - Radja finds a fraction of space on the edge of the area, but cannot quite steer his shot on target. The Olimpico are roaring the hosts on!

57' - PENALTY TO ROMA! Dzeko is hauled down in the box by Pique, and Roma have the spot-kick!

58' - GOAL! A huge moment in the match! Dzeko gets into the box and is hauled down by Pique - the referee hesitates for a second but soon points to the spot. The captain De Rossi steps up and buries the chance with no hesitation!! DAJE! 2-0!

68' - Chance! Strootman plays in the ball invitingly but Radja's volley is not powerful enough to beat Ter Stegen!

69' - Close again! De Rossi meets the far post cross from Fazio (again!) but cannot put his header on target!

79' - SO CLOSE! INCREDIBLE SAVE TER STEGEN! Florenzi's inswinging cross is met brilliantly by El Shaarawy, but the 'keeper somehow claws it out from inside the post!

83' - GOAL! ROMA AHEAD! Manolas flicks on the corner at the near post, finds the net just inside the far post, and the Giallorossi are 3-0 up on the night and ahead on away goals in the tie! 3-0!
