Tumminello, 19, will join the Bergamo side for a fee of €5 million. As part of the deal, Roma will also receive 50% of any profit Atalanta may make if they sell the striker in future for a fee greater than €5m.
The Giallorossi also retain the option to re-sign Tumminello at any point for the next two seasons.
The buy-back fee is set at €13m at the end of the first season, and €15m at the end of the second.
Tumminello, an Italy youth international, is a former member of the Roma academy – helping Alberto De Rossi’s squad to Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa victory during his time with the Under-19s.
After a brief debut for the first team against Chievo Verona in January 2016, at the start of last season Tumminello made his second appearance for the Giallorossi under coach Eusebio Di Francesco, coming on as a substitute against Inter Milan.
He spent the rest of the 2017-18 campaign out on loan at Crotone – scoring three goals in nine appearances, despite suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for a significant part of campaign.
