Dzeko eager to add Chelsea to list of victims

AGIM

Striker Edin Dzeko is hoping to add Chelsea to the list of sides he has scored against in his career on Wednesday, as he prepares for his 100th game as a Roma player

The Ballon d'Or nominee spoke to the media at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening - read everything he had to say below...

You have always scored a lot of goals, in Germany, Italy, Engand … how does the last year compare to your best?

“I think I’m getting better, as you get older you get better. I think I feel good, I’m in form and this is the most important thing. I think that for the two years and a bit I have had in Italy I am satisfied with what I‘ve done, although the many goals I’ve scored are also because of my teammates who have been great.

"Each game I want to do my best, I am 31 and don’t want to stop now. Could I win the Ballon d’Or? I don't think so, but I’m proud to be considered. This, as I said, is something that also belongs to all my teammates.”

You have not managed it yet in your career - what would it mean to score against Chelsea?

"It definitely makes me motivated. I always want to score and help the team. Perhaps Chelsea are one of the best teams I have yet to score against, so hopefully I can do that tomorrow and I will give everything to make that happen."

Marcos Alonso said you are the one Roma player he would remove from the side if he could. What do you say about that – and which Chelsea player would you like to remove?

“I read that, but I think it’s a bit too late now to take me out! If I could take five I would take five – it would make it much easier! Chelsea are a great team with not just one top player. Unfortunately I cannot remove one, though, so we have to play the game and give our best and hopefully we can do that and if we do more than the maximum then then, and only then, we can achieve a positive result."

What do you make of Alvaro Morata’s quick adaptation to the Premier League?

"I think he's obviously done it very quickly, because he has already scored some goals, even if he has got an injury recently. He is an important player for Chelsea and we will see tomorrow if he is going to play. Perhaps they will keep him fresh for the next game… Chelsea are a great team and know what they are doing. We will prepare well, sleep well tonight, and hopefully play well tomorrow."

It will be your 100th game for Roma tomorrow – what are your emotions?

"Yes, I’m definitely very happy – as I wasn’t always expecting to reach this number after how the first year went. So let’s hope tomorrow proves to be a special occasion for the 100th and we get a good result!'
