After an afternoon of activities for families and children in the Foro Italico area outside the stadium, the focus moved inside the Olimpico for the friendly between the Giallorossi and the Argentine side.
A goalless first half was not without chances and excitement but it was in the second half where the game really came to life, as Juan Manuel Iturbe gave the hosts the lead shortly after the break.
The winger was picked out perfectly by Leandro Paredes as he stole in behind the San Lorenzo defence, and duly made no mistake as he lashed past the helpless goalkeeper.
A fine finish from forward Fernando Belluschi soon got the visitors back on level terms but Roma would not be denied - with substitute Keba tapping home the winning goal after fine work from Francesco Totti and Bruno Peres.

The day began in the Fan Village outside the stadium, as a variety of events were put on for families - from football mini-games to archery, badminton and almost everything in between.
Ice cream and refreshments were also being handed out - but there was also a serious element to proceedings, with visitors encouraged to write their messages of support to those affected by the recent earthquake.
Inside the stadium - after kids from around Rome had participated in a mini-tournament out on the pitch - it was time for the match. Spalletti named just about the strongest side available to him, considering a number of players are currently away with their national teams.
The first half was light on clear-cut chances, with Stephan El Shaarawy and Iturbe looking busy in and around the opposition penalty box.
Half-time saw a performance from Alessandra Amoroso, who wowed the crowd with a spirited rendition of three of her most famous songs.
In the second half the game opened up somewhat, with Iturbe and Keba soon taking advantage. San Lorenzo's substitute goalkeeper Navorro also made a couple of notable saves - but could not quite do enough to prevent Roma taking the win.
That was not the main focus of the night, however, with 13,000 fans in attendance meaning a healthy sum was raised to go towards the earthquake relief efforts.
“Days like this mean a lot to us players and also to the people who came along and showed their support," Totti, who wore a special shirt for the match, said afterwards.
"We're happy to have been a part of it. We'll try to do everything we can to help those affected by the earthquake.”
Coach Luciano Spalletti added: "We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone involved today because they all played their part. We've made an important contribution by showing up today.”
Roma XI to face San Lorenzo: Lobont; Peres, Fazio, Grossi, Seck; Emerson, Paredes; Iturbe, Perotti, El Shaarawy; Totti.
