Paredes: "We played a great game"

Leandro Paredes spoke with the media following Roma's 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.

Here's what the Argentinian midfielder had to say...

How hard is it to concede these two goals?

"It hurts. We had the game in our hands and unfortunately with Mancini's own goal we were forced to leave space in behind. Against strong players you can't do that".

How much effort did you put in tonight?

"We had done everything to score two goals. Until the 82nd minute we had a great match. The own goal forced us to leave space for the opponents to try and score the third".

You came close to an all-Italian final. Are you disappointed?

"Disappointed, yes. We made a great effort. We wanted to give the fans the final and give them this joy, but we go home empty-handed".

Now you can restart and aim for the Champions League. You play Atalanta on Sunday.

"Of course, we have to do it starting tomorrow. We have to do our best in these three games."

Were you able to play the way you wanted tonight? In the first leg you had less space.

"Matches are always different. Today there was much more space. I attempted to contribute, and I believe I did.”

    How are you physically?

"The tiredness is there, but for these three games it's more of a mental thing. We will work hard to be at our best on Sunday because it is the most important game of the year."

Compared to last year you are a different player. De Rossi's praise or yours?

"Thanks to the injuries. I was not feeling well at Juventus due to hip problems. I wanted to do better, and now I'm happy here. I'd like to continue like this."
